Greetings from the Consul General
It is an honour to lead this representation since September 2024 and to contribute to the continued strengthening of the close ties between Switzerland and Eastern Canada.
Our consular district spans a vast and diverse territory. In addition to Quebec, it includes Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, the territory of Nunavut, as well as the Bahamas. Honorary consulates in Winnipeg, Toronto, Québec City, Halifax and Nassau complement our presence. Western Canada falls under the responsibility of the Consulate General of Switzerland in Vancouver, while the entire network is coordinated by the Embassy of Switzerland in Ottawa.
Our mission is to represent Switzerland and safeguard the interests of our country and its citizens, while fostering dialogue, cooperation and exchange throughout the region.
Switzerland’s consular presence in Montreal dates back to 1875, when the first Swiss consulate in Canada was established. Since then, we have supported Swiss citizens living in the region and encouraged exchanges in economic, cultural, scientific and educational fields. In 2025, we marked the 150th anniversary of our presence in Montreal, reflecting the continuity and vitality of the relationship between Switzerland and Eastern Canada.
The activities of the Consulate General cover a broad range of areas, including economic and commercial affairs, with the Swiss Business Hub hosted on site, as well as culture, education, science and innovation. This website provides detailed information on these topics, along with practical guidance on consular services and an overview of Swiss clubs established across Canada.
