Ensemble Vocal Allegria – Concerts in Montreal
Event Date
April 11 – Saint-Sixte Church • With the Université de Montréal Choir
As part of a musical exchange between Switzerland and Quebec, Ensemble Vocal Allegria will perform in Montreal for two concerts alongside local choirs.
Led by Gonzague Monney, the ensemble brings together around twenty singers and performs a repertoire ranging from sacred music to traditional songs. At the heart of the programme is a musical “Tour of Switzerland”, highlighting the country’s four national languages through works from different regions.
Designed as true moments of exchange and dialogue, these concerts bring together Swiss and Quebec ensembles through shared pieces alongside each choir’s own repertoire.
About the ensemble
Ensemble Vocal Allegria was founded in 2024 by Joelle Delley Zhao, initially as a one-time project bringing together singers from different ensembles. Thanks to its musical quality and strong group dynamic, it quickly developed into a fully established vocal ensemble.
Under the direction of Gonzague Monney, the ensemble has already performed several concerts, featuring a repertoire ranging from Johannes Brahms to Morten Lauridsen, including works by Edvard Grieg, Camille Saint-Saëns and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi.
